Mentoring Program

Within this program a postdoc and a professor plan a lecture or class together. Postdocs give at least half of the sessions each term and the professor provides them systematically with feedback and advice on their performance.

Guidelines and procedure:

• The mentoring program is open to all postdocs and professors of HCM.

• A postdoc who wants to hold a lecture course or a main lecture course for the first time should look for a mentor before applying. He or she should (as mentee) send a concept to the head of the HCM postdoc committee using this form. The concept must be supported by a professor (as mentor). The committee accepts the proposal and can provide further suggestions.

• The candidates should inform their colleagues/institutes before they apply and find an agreement on the course which should be taught.

• The formalities (e.g. a "Lehrauftrag") will then be organised by the institute of the candidate.

• The mentor attends (at least once, if necessary more frequently) the mentee's lecture course and provides feedback. Furthermore, the mentor attends the first oral examinations and checks written examinations taken by the mentee.

• After the lecture course, the mentee can apply for a certificate. In this case, the mentor shall send a short report to the head of the committee.

• Based on this report and possibly own impressions, the head of the committee can write a certificate of the successful participation in this program to the postdoc.
